CompuServe is one of the oldest internet companies in the world, in fact, it was the first major commercial online service in the USA and it has been helping people communicate through email since the late 1980s. Before AOL purchased the company, CompuServe became very popular for hosting the first WYSIWYG e-mail content editor, which allowed users to connect to their service in order to exchange new mail and other content online. The company is now a subsidiary of AOL, and it continues to operate as an internet portal that still provides an outstanding e-mail service that users can easily access on the web, on mobile, and through email clients that use IMAP such as Netscape Messenger or Outlook Express.
CompuServe’s webmail service can be used to read your e-mails and to create them as well. To check your mail you can click on “Read Mail” from the Mail Center, and to compose a new message you can click on “New Mail” from the toolbar at the top of the page to start writing. Other features include address book, filing cabinet, e-mail scheduler, email controls, instant messenger, free virus protection, email preferences, and more.
CompuServe members or people who have a CompuServe.com email account can log in to the service through two different sites, those who have email addresses like this one “yourusername@cs.com” can sign in to CS 2000 Webmail, and those who have email addresses such as this one “yourusername@compuserve.com” can sign in to CompuServe.com webmail. Below you will find links to both pages and step by step instructions on how to access your account.
CompuServe Mail Login
- Go to http://webmail.compuserve.com/, or to http://webmail.cs.com/ depending on the type of account that you have.
- Enter your Username or Email in the first field of the login box at the top of your screen.
- Enter your password in the “Password” text field.
- Click on the blue “Sign In” button and that’s it.
If you notice the AOL.com Mail logo and name on your web browser’s title bar at the very top of your browser don’t be surprised, because AOL owns CompuServe and it also powers most of its service offerings such as email, greeting cards, and probably even their entire internet portal.
If you have problems signing in to your CS mail account even after resetting your password you should contact customer service by phone at 1-800-848-8990 from Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 1:00 am EST, and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm EST.
